Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English or France to the French... What is going on in Palestine today cannot be justified by any moral code of conduct.

Protest the fresh Israeli aggression in Gaza

Protest the fresh Israeli aggression in Gaza

16th November 2012

The Palestine Solidarity Committee condemns the new round of attacks that Israel has launched on Gaza. In the last two days, there have been more than 250 military attacks against targets in different parts of the Gaza Strip. 15 Palestinians have been killed including many women and children, contrary to Israeli claims of targeting only military centres.

This new offensive started after Israel and Hamas had agreed to a de facto truce in Gaza and bolsters the view that the Netanyahu led right-wing Israeli government, with an eye to impending elections, is following the timehonoured Israeli formula of Palestinian bodies for ballots.

Gaza’s indescribable suffering reached a peak during the outrageous attacks in late 2008, when 1,400 Palestinians were killed and more than 5,000 wounded. Gaza continues to remain under siege, a vast open air prison, with its 1.7 million people being subjected to deliberately created food and other shortages and frequent military attacks.

Now, once again, Gaza is under direct attack. And this is what we hear from friends and activists from Gaza: “There is fear, sadness and anxiety in every street in Gaza. It's very dark, we have no power, and few people are in the streets. We hear ambulances and air strikes every now and then. The smell is like the smell of war ... Kids are terrified…”

We in India cannot remain silent spectators to the systematic violence being unleashed on the people of Gaza. We call upon the Indian government and all citizens of India to condemn this brutal attack. We also demand that the India must sever immediately its military ties with Israel.
